Animal Crossing: New Horizons is getting a summer update. Today, Nintendo released a trailer and statement revealing some of the update’s features. The video shows off new creatures, activities, and encounters. In a statement, the company announced that the update would be out on July 3 with another following in August.

In the trailer, the player is seen leaping off of their island’s rocks and into the ocean. From there, they take part in some of the new activities like swimming and diving. Later, the player comes across some of the update’s new encounters.

While diving, players can discover new creatures. These can be donated to the island’s museum. Some of the new finds include scallops, spotted garden eels, and more.

New Recipes

When swimming, you may come across Pascal the Otter. In their statement, Nintendo said, “The friendly visitor Pascal seems to love scallops, and if you discover one while diving, he may ask you if he can have it. As a thank you, he’ll share some of his mermaid-themed DIY recipes.”

The trailer reveals some of the recipes. It shows off a fully mermaid-themed room with a dresser, vanity, and more.

Nintendo also teased a new encounter on the island. Occasionally, Gulliver will wash up on the beach in a pirate outfit. According to Nintendo, players can “offer him a helping hand and he’ll send a special reward to show his gratitude.” The company has left it up to players to discover what the reward is.

In March, Animal Crossing: New Horizons debuted on the Switch to wide acclaim. Nintendo has said that these new summer updates will be free. No news yet on what will be in the August package, but we will update you here at Mendax Games on any Animal Crossing: New Horizons announcements.
